Roof Cleaning Under Solar Panels: The Full Roof Detail
We lift the panels off their rails, pressure wash the entire roof, clear the gutters, and set everything back. That gets to the buildup a regular rinse can’t reach: under the array, across the tiles, in the gutters.
- Panels come off before any pressure washing
- Under 1800 PSI at a 45 degree angle, gutters included
- Everything set back the way it was
Starts at $850 for a small roof, quoted by panel count.

Some roofs need more than a rinse
Years of dust, droppings, and monsoon mud build up in the one place no cleaning can reach: under the panels. If pigeons have been living there, the layer under the array is worse than anything visible from the street.
After years of buildup, this is how you start over. A regular cleaning keeps the roof that way after.
Under the array, before a detailHow the full roof detail works
Panels come off first, the roof gets washed, then everything goes back. Nothing gets washed until the panels are out of the way, and nothing goes back until the roof is done.
- 1
Panels come off the rails
Every panel is lifted off its mounting rails and set aside before any washing starts, so the glass stays clear of the pressure washer the whole time. Removal work happens with licensed roofers.
- 2
The roof gets cleared, then washed
Vacuum, shovel, and rake first; five to ten bags of debris is a normal haul. Then the pressure wash: under 1800 PSI, held at a 45 degree angle, detergent on the tile only. Gutters are cleared as part of it.
- 3
Everything goes back
Panels return to their rails and the array is set back the way it was. Bird proofing is not part of the detail; it’s a separate option you can add.
Panels off, buildup exposed
Cleared, ready to go backPressure washers never touch solar glass
Pressure washing can damage solar glass, so the panels are off the roof before the washer starts. On the roof it stays under 1800 PSI at a 45 degree angle. On the glass it’s deionized water and a soft bristle brush, nothing else.
Panel cleaning, bird proofing, or the full roof detail
All three are priced by panel count, and they solve different problems. Here’s what each covers.
| What you need | Full roof detail | Panel cleaning | Bird proofing |
|---|---|---|---|
| The panel glass | Panels come off the roof first | DI water wash, spot-free dry | Stays untouched |
| Under the array | Exposed, cleared, and pressure washed | Stays as it is | Nests cleared, then sealed with mesh |
| The rest of the roof | Full pressure wash, under 1800 PSI | Stays as it is | Stays as it is |
| Gutters | Cleared, included | Stay as they are | Stay as they are |
